Laser Scanning

The unparalleled amount of data collected during a 360 degree laser scan helps us to produce 2 & 3D floor plans, elevations, sections and sectional elevations. As well as these traditional survey products it also enables us to produce fly-throughs, visualisations and virtual and web tours ideal for the presentation of historic buildings, sites and monuments. This technology complements our existing services such as photogrammetry and adds new capabilities. It is enhanced with our high resolution digital photographic services.

We can provide both long/medium and close range scanning. This technology offers the following benefits:

  • Rapid collection of 3D data on site
  • Ideal for deformation/erosion monitoring over time
  • Large data sets reduce time required on site where access is difficult to arrange
  • Large date set means clients can easily request further drawings without a need for further site work
  • Measurement is non-contact thus ideal for recording unsafe buildings or hazardous areas
  • Provides high quality data sets for 3D printing
  • 3D record survey of a snap-shot in time

The Laser Scanner has been supported through LEADER in the Peak District Rural Action Zone, part of the Rural Development Programme for England, which is jointly funded by DEFRA and the European Union, and is delivered by Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership.
